The Uffizi Gallery Museum is one of the world’s most famous museums. It is said to be significantly important right after the Vatican for housing some the most iconic artworks and masterpieces. Therefore, a trip to Florence is an unfinished business without a tour of Uffizi for its art.
Home to phenomenal Renaissance artists like Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue, Masaccio and many others, a single visit promises to leave you more knowledgeable about art by the end. Amidst the many fascinating pieces of art present, the most renowned ones are the artworks by Sandro Botticelli - Primavera and Birth of Venus .
The Birth of Venus is the most famous painting in the museum. Depicting the birth of the goddess from the foam of the sea, this artwork symbolises beauty as an expression of purity and spiritual quality. Because of these nuances, it is characterised as a Renaissance Neo-platonic work, a perfect example of its time.
The Tondo Doni by Michelangelo is the only existing finished panel painting also in possession of the museum. A must see, also known as Doni Tondo or Doni Madonna or sometimes referred to as The Holy Family depicts the figures of Mary, Joseph and the Child grouped in a single volume.
