For your Florence Bike Tour you should meet your English speaking guide near Piazza della Signoria, home to the famous Palazzo Strozzi built in typical Renaissance architecture with its mullioned windows and distinct cornice. The piazza also houses the most miraculous edifice of Renaissance art, Florence Duomo.
Get onto your bikes and pedal your way through the picturesque streets of Florence, lined with dun-coloured houses, cafes, restaurants and shops. During the course of the tour your guide will enrich you with fascinating stories and the history of the sites visited.
Visit the Beccaria neighbourhood and relish an authentic Italian pastry. Continue your tour with a stopover at the famous San Niccolodistrict.
The tour will also cover Piazza dellaRepublica (Republic Square). Built in the 19th century as part of a massive redevelopment project, it was Florence’s commercial and political centre in the Roman era and housed a food market in the Middle Ages. Presently, lined with several cafes, restaurants and shops, it is one of the most entertaining and liveliest places in Florence with a huge carousel situated at the centre.
During the course of the tour, you will also visit Santa Croce Square which houses the Franciscan church, Basilica di Santa Croce. It is the burial place of some of the most notable Italians such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and Rossini.
Work your way around the crowds outside the Uffizi Gallery, the most famous museum in Florence with one of the most illustrious collection of Renaissance art by the best masters of the era.
You will get a glimpse of some of the major attractions:
Piazza Cesare Beccaria
Tower of San Niccolo
Santa Maria Novella Square
Santa Croce Square
