Your hotel in Florence
You will be picked up from your hotel in Florence and travel through delightful Tuscan countryside with your English speaking driver. You will see rounded hills neatly striped with rows of green vines, lines of dark cypress trees, silvery olive groves, and winding roads leading to charming farmhouses and imposing castles.
The vehicle is allowed to drive in the center of all cities so, unlike a bus tour, you do have not to walk great distances.
On the way, you will stop at a small winery for around one and a half hours. Here you can taste the premier products of the region – Chianti Classico red wine and extra virgin olive oil – and enjoy a snack snack with cold cuts, bread and sheep cheese.
The tour continues to the lovely medieval town of San Gimignano, famous for its 14 towers and the local white wine – "Vernaccia". It is named after the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who is said to have saved the original settlement from the barbarians. You have about an hour to explore this lovely town. You will be dropped off and picked up again at Cisterna Square in the town center.
Your next stop will be Monteriggioni, one of Italy's finest and best preserved medieval walled towns. With its 14 quadrilateral towers, it is magnificently sited on a hilltop overlooking the Elsa and Staggia valleys. The town was so well-known that the poet Dante made a reference to it in his Divine Comedy.
Your last stop is Siena where you will be dropped off at the stunning Piazza del Campo, a large shell-shaped square in the center. It is famous for the spectacular Palio di Siena horse race, which is held here twice a year in honor of the Virgin Mary. Meet your tour vehicle at the Cathedral to return to Florence.
At the end of your tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Florence.
